Visit birding hotspots along the Delaware River!
Historic Old New Castle is among Delaware’s quaintest small towns and an unsung birding hotspot during migration given its location along the Delaware River and proximity to tidal marshes and nearby woods. If you have followed eBird alerts you will know about the rarities spotted recently by DOS members at The Hermitage, Gambacorta Marsh, Battery Park, Bull Hill Park, and Broad Dyke Wetlands. This mid-week walk will avoid the weekend crowds and feature easy trails (with a few muddy spots) and no entrance fees. Those doing a “no carbon” Bird-a-thon can access these sites easily using the Jack A Markell Trail.

Those interested in more information may contact Joe at [email protected].
Trip will begin at 8 am from the parking lot at The Hermitage Natural Area.
