Citizen Science
Citizen Science is a cooperation between amateur and professional researchers using scientific principles to contribute data and share knowledge for a better understanding of the natural world.
From its inception, the Delaware Ornithological Society has encouraged the study of bird identification, habitat usage, breeding behavior, migration studies, and rarity reporting.
The onset of new technologies has unlocked new research abilities for the lay person that is no longer confined to museums or higher education. Citizen science encourages the individual to contribute scientific information to ehance our ability to understand the natural world and to make realistic policy decisions.
