SUMMARY:Early Evening Bird Walk at the DuPont Environmental Education Center/Russell W. Peterson Refuge with Joe Francis***Please see weather statement below***
DESCRIPTION:Rusty Blackbird by Michael Moore \n\n\n\nSpecial Weather Statement:\n\n\n\nJoe will be there to lead the walk if the rain has stopped or is light enough that a simple rain jacket will suffice.  In the event of heavy downpours or thunder and lightening there will be no walk.  If the National Weather Service issues a severe weather warning (including flash flooding in New Castle County) we won’t do the walk.  A coastal flood advisory likely won’t impact DEEC but folks should exercise caution based on where they live and the routes they travel. \n\n\n\nExplore Delaware’s Premier Urban Wildlife Refuge!\n\n\n\nJoin Joe for his usual Sunday evening stroll through the marsh.  Expect early migrating waterfowl; shorebirds; raptors; Marsh Wren; Rusty Blackbird. There are nice stands of wild rice along Little Mill Creek so there’s hope for Bobolink.  We will walk about 2 miles\, to the Christina River Bridge and back. \n\n\n\nNext walk: October 25\, 2026 @ 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet by the Russell Peterson statue in the parking area for the DuPont Environmental Education Center.
