What a tradition – don’t miss being a part of Bob Rufe’s 40th Annual Trip to Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge! Expect a few rarities and learn to recognize the summer locals. Bring bug spray, sunscreen, & a hat. Half day. Don’t forget that the NWR entrance fee is in effect ($4/vehicle). Meet at the refuge headquarters at 8am.

A Note From Bob:
Delmarva Ornithological Society (DOS) is sponsoring a Beginner’s Shorebird Trip this Saturday at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge, Smyrna, Delaware. “Par” is 15 species, and could be an exciting year, given all the regional sightings of rarities. Half day trip – tailored for beginners.
DOS trips are free and open to the public. Refuge fees are in effect. We meet in the Visitor’s Center parking lot at 8 a.m. and wrap up by noon. Emphasis is on basics for beginners, although there are always several experienced birders to assist. Pace is slow – everyone should see each shorebird species satisfactorily. Drinks and snacks advised, as well as sunscreen, bug spray and a hat. Trip leader is Bob Rufe – email@example.com if you have questions. An informal tally luncheon, optional, is usually held following the trip at a local eatery.
