The Delaware Dunlins are the Youth Birding Group of the Delmarva Ornithological Society (DOS).

About Youth Birding

The Delaware Dunlins Youth Birders Club is a group of school-aged young people who enjoy the excitement and experience of watching birds. The club is sponsored and supported by the Delmarva Ornithological Society, a regional birding club dedicated to the study and appreciation of birdlife on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Who can participate

School-age children (ages 6 to 18) are eligible to participate in this club. Adult family members are strongly encouraged to accompany children involved in club activities. The success of this club is built upon the support of adults participating along with youth.

Club Leaders

Delaware Dunlins field trip leaders are “veteran” birders and experienced educators. Program instructors will also include professional ornithologists, wildlife managers, and authors.

Why Birding?

Birding is an exciting and entertaining outdoor activity. By watching birds, we see amazing behaviors and events that connect us to the natural world. Learning about birds and sharing the outdoor experience with friends are important aspects of birding.

Membership

A member fee of $12.50 per youth birder is valid for one year (DOS’s year starts Sept. 1st).  A family membership is offered for $37.50.  All memberships also include a membership in the Delmarva Ornithological Society.  Members will receive the organization’s monthly newsletter, The DOS Flyer.
