Well folks, fall is well underway and the bleak, gray days of winter will soon follow.

But don’t despair, as it is also time to look forward to that most wonderful time of year – the annual Christmas Bird Counts. The DOS sponsors five counts: Wilmington, Bombay Hook, Middletown, Rehoboth, and Cape Henlopen/Prime Hook. All of the counts are looking for birders to participate. Contact the appropriate count compiler if you are interested in joining any or all of this year’s Christmas BirdCounts. New birders are always welcome.

Also, if you live in one of the count circles and you would rather count birds from the comfort of your home (who wouldn’t), just tally your feeder birds and report them to the appropriate individual count compiler listed below.
