Black Vulture Nesting Pair
DOS member Bob Bryant has established a nest-cam on a pair of local Black Vultures nesting on a dirt floor. On April 27th Bob provided selected cam shots for this photo gallery. The two chicks pictured are less than 2 weeks in age. One of only a handful of Black Vulture nest cams currently operating, this Newark, Delaware based nest-cam has allowed researchers and the public an opportunity to follow the nest behavior of these seldom studied birds. Keep your eyes (and ears) open for Dickcissels! With recent reports of Dickcissels in Kent and New Castle County atlas blocks, we should all be on the lookout for this bird in open habitat, in each of our atlas blocks. For those not familiar with this sparrow like species, please listen to the song by following [this link].
Remember, the Dickcissel sings its name! (photo by Maurice Barnhill)
