2nd Annual Bird-A-Thon* is coming up! More info can be found here!

Additional Prizes have been added!
Here’s a superb opportunity for you to contribute to bird conservation in Delaware. Through an alliance with The Conservation Fund, America’s foremost non-profit conservation organization dedicated to protecting wildlife habitat, 97% of all proceeds will go directly towards purchasing land in Delaware as well as helping solve other conservation issues. This land provides species such as the Red Knot rufa with vital migratory shorebird habitat. Spend a few hours, an afternoon, or all day enjoying nature and watching migrating flocks of birds for the worthy cause of bird conservation. It’s a great way to help the birds while qualifying for some outstanding prizes. DOS also sponsors a series of birdwalks during bird-a-thon! Learn more...

*A Bird-A-Thon is a fundraiser much like a walk-a-thon or bike-a-thon where individuals or teams count the number of different bird species seen or heard in a 24 hour period. Each participant collects pledges from family, friends, relatives, neighbors or businesses for each species found.

The Delaware National Estuarine Reserach Reserve is offering some wonderful bird walks this spring...[read more]
