Bird-A-Thon
Birding For Conservation Makes Cents

Why Participate?
This is an opportunity for you to contribute to the well-being of birds in Delaware. Spend a few hours, an afternoon, or all day enjoying nature and watching migratory birds in the name of bird conservation. Through an alliance with DNREC and The Conservation Fund--America's foremost non-profit conservation organization dedicated to protecting wildlife habitat--98% of all proceeds will go directly toward purchasing and enhancing land in Delaware. This land can provide vital migratory habitat for species such as the Red Knot. It's a great way to help the birds and qualify for some fantastic prizes.

What is a Bird-A-Thon?
A Bird-A-Thon is a fundraiser much like a walk-a-thon or bike-a-thon where individuals or teams count the number of different bird species seen or heard in a 24 hour period. Each participant collects pledges from family, friends, relatives, neighbors or businesses for each species found. The goal of the Delaware Bird-A-Thon is to raise funds to protect habitat for migratory shorebirds and to fund migratory raptor research along the Delaware Bay.
