What is a Bird-A-Thon?
A Bird-A-Thon is a fundraiser much like a walk-a-thon or bike-a-thon where individuals or teams count the number of different bird species seen or heard in a 24 hour period. Each participant collects pledges from family, friends, relatives, neighbors or businesses for each species found.
Why Participate in the DOS Bird-A-Thon?

Here’s the opportunity for you to contribute to the betterment of bird habitat conservation in Delaware. Through an alliance with organizations including the Conservation Fund, America’s foremost conservation non-profit dedicated to the protection of wildlife habitat, 100% of the proceeds will go toward purchasing land in Delaware that provides species such as the Red Knot rufa with vital migratory shorebird habitat and other conservation causes. Spend a few hours, an afternoon or all day outside enjoying nature and migrating flocks of birds for the worthy cause of Bird Conservation issues. What a great way to help the birds themselves and qualify for some Great Prizes!

Prize Categories: "Most Funds Raised", "Most Species Identified", and a Team Award of combining "Most Funds Raised + Most Species Identified"

Any members with questions or who would like to help in some administrative aspect of the Bird-A-Thon, please contact Bill Stewart, Conservation Committee Chair.
