DOS May 8, 2010 Spring Roundup

For more than 40 years DOS has conducted a statewide spring census. Saturday, May 8, 2010 marks the 42nd consecutive year where both species and individual numbers of birds are counted and documented. I believe such a Spring Count with the traditional label "Roundup" is unique to Delaware. We're small enough to successfully pull this off each spring, but our number of volunteers is key. 

May is International Birding Month and there are many competing events. If there are other events, try to combine them. DOS can use your citizen science.  

All levels of birding expertise are welcomed. Here is the list of area compilers that would be glad to hear from you. Note the geographic limits of each area.

 

Area 1: New Castle County south to the C&D Canal, Mike Smith 

Area 2: C&D Canal south to the Leipsic River in Kent County, John Janowski

Area 3: Kent County south of the Leipsic River to the Sussex County Line, Joe Sebastiani

Area 5: Sussex County south to Lewes, Frank Rohrbacher

Area 6: Lewes to the Indian River Inlet, Glen Lovelace

Area 7: Indian River Inlet south to the Maryland Line, Bob Rufe
